Getting to know CBD

Where does CBD come from?

CBD comes from the Cannabis Sativa plant. This plant is made up of more than 100 components, also known as cannabinoids. Two of the most well-known and studied cannabinoids are tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) and cannabidiol (CBD). THC is the main psychoactive compound found in cannabis plants, and is responsible for the “high” that most people associate with cannabis. Although THC and CBD have distinct differences, people often get them mixed up – this is where one of the biggest misconceptions about CBD occurs… which leads us to the next question.

Can CBD make you high?

Absolutely not. CBD is non-intoxicating and non-euphoric, meaning it does not have the ability to cause a “high”. It has no hallucinogenic properties associated with it and has been regarded as safe to consume by the World Health Organisation. Research indicates that it is very well tolerated and if one experiences side-effects, it is likely the result of taking CBD with other medications.

It is great to see that increased knowledge and research on the effectiveness of CBD is slowly removing the stigma attached to this incredible compound.

What is the difference between CBD Isolate, Broad-spectrum CBD (CBD Distillate) and Full-spectrum CBD?

CBD Isolate is the purest form of CBD, containing no other components from the cannabis plant. Broad-spectrum CBD contains some components in the cannabis plant (such as terpenes, omega fatty acids and other vitamins) but does not contain THC and Full-spectrum CBD contains ALL components in the cannabis plant (including THC). We only utilise CBD Isolate and Broad-spectrum CBD in our products, ensuring that zero THC is present.

How is CBD oil manufactured?

CBD Oil is manufactured by extracting CBD from the cannabis plant and diluting this extracted compound with a carrier such as MCT oil and / or alcohol.

Is CBD legal?

Yes. The South African Government has legalised the sale of CBD products that contain no more than 0,001% THC with a maximum daily dose of 20mg CBD. All of our products follow these guidelines making them legal and safe to purchase in South Africa.

Unfortunately some brands fail to be transparent in their attempt to sell their products which contain more than 0,001% THC… these products are still illegal to purchase in South Africa. Always be sure to check that the products you are buying contain zero (or no more than 0,001%) THC.

Is CBD safe to consume?

Yes! CBD is non-habit forming, it does not affect your motor skills or cognition, you cannot overdose on it and you cannot build a tolerance to it.

Is CBD just a trend?

No. CBD (and cannabis as a whole) has been used throughout the ages as a medicinal tool in many parts of the world. Although it has gained traction and attention over recent years, it has been used as a herbal medicine for a very long time!

Are all CBD products the same?

Unfortunately not. There are still products on the market that are being manufactured with poor quality CBD.

At Aureum, we are devoted to provide high-quality, trusted products that are manufactured in carefully sourced, licensed facilities. During the production of our products we ensure that stringent quality-control procedures are followed with meticulous attention to detail in order to ensure that optimal quality standards are met.

How often should I take CBD?

CBD is best taken daily & consistently in order to experience noticeable, long-term results. Daily doses help to shift your body’s Endocannabinoid System into balance and keep it there.

How long do Aureum CBD Oils take to work?

Immediate effects can be experienced within 10-15 minutes of taking Aureum CBD oils (if taken directly under the tongue without dilution). However, long-term results may take up to 2-4 weeks to achieve.

Why do CBD products turn pink/purple?

When exposed to oxygen, heat and light the colour of CBD products may change to a purple/pink hue. This reaction is completely harmless & has absolutely no effect on the quality, effectiveness or shelf life of the products.

Can I add CBD Oil to hot drinks?

Of course! Adding CBD to heated drinks is a great way to experience the full effect of CBD’s benefits while enjoying a warm, tasty drink.

How long will a bottle of Aureum CBD oil last?

30ml Bottle:
